Unity 89.1 FM is excited to announce significant progress as we work to ramp up our operations ahead of June! We have identified a new broadcast location and are currently collaborating with our engineer to prepare the station for full operation. Unity 89.1 FM, a dedicated initiative of The Mosaic Project of South Texas, continues to work diligently toward our mission following last year’s successful receipt of our FCC license for a Low Power FM (LPFM) broadcast station.
Our essential transmission equipment has been purchased and will be installed in the coming weeks to month. Soon, you will be able to enjoy Unity 89.1 FM through multiple platforms: streaming online via our website, through Alexa-enabled devices, and of course, via standard FM radio within a 10-mile radius of our broadcast location.

Reflecting on our recent and ongoing engagements, members of our Board of Directors visited New Orleans in October for the Grassroots Radio Conference, where we met with leaders at the New Orleans Pride Center and WHIV, a community radio station that uniquely shares studio space with the Pride Center. More recently, we visited Kyle, Texas, connecting with other grassroots radio organizers to restore and reaffirm our vision for Unity 89.1 FM after the departure of a previous partner who did not share our community-focused goals.
Both The Mosaic Project of South Texas and Pride Corpus Christi are committed to utilizing this new space effectively, furthering our mission to expand the equitable cultural presence of our vibrant community within its social fabric. Key underwriters will be given the opportunity to utilize the airwaves to reach the LGBTQIA+ community with vital resources such as access to healthcare and general services.
